The car wash: for some the invention of the century, for others a blasphemy in the church
The car wash is perhaps the most discussed topic when it comes to washing the car and whether or not it damages the car's paint.
For the best result, the safest operation, and optimizing the lifespan of the paint, a proper hand wash is the best solution. Still, there are countless reasons to consider using the car wash. Think of time savings, cleaning the underside of the car, or simply because it doesn't matter.
Minimize the risk of damages
Car washes are becoming increasingly 'safer' in the sense of soft materials being used to brush the car and safer cleaning agents. Nevertheless, the risk of damage such as scratches is still very high, and therefore it is advisable to minimize this risk. When choosing the car wash, several precautions can be taken to reduce the likelihood of damage.
Step 1: a good preparation is half the work
Before you enter the car wash, it is important to ensure that the car can be safely cleaned. Check for any loose parts and always remove the antenna. Make sure to remove large dirt residues such as mud and the like in advance to reduce the risk of scratches.
Step 2: choose the right car wash
Not every car wash is the same. Make sure to choose a car wash that uses soft brushes and high-quality cleaning agents to prevent the brushes from causing scratches. Ensure that you select a modern car wash that is known for the good maintenance that is carried out.
Step 3: the washing process
Choose the program that suits your needs. Often there are different programs available, ranging from a basic program to an extensive program with soil cleaning and application of wax.
It is advisable to include the underbody cleaning because it also cleans the underside of the car, where dirt can accumulate. This can prevent any rust formation, especially in winter when salt is spread.
Step 4: make sure the car is well dried
The car wash often dries the car with blowers. This often results in some water residues remaining, which can leave water spots when it dries.
It is therefore important to dry the car afterwards. You can do this with the large drying towel, namely the Magnet Towel XL, or the small drying cloth, namely the Magnet Towel S.
Step 5: apply Ceramic Seal for optimal protection
Many car washes use a 'wax'. This wax is of low quality and disappears after a few rain showers.
To ensure that you don't have to return to the car wash every week and can enjoy a clean and protected car for longer, we recommend the Ceramic Seal to apply. You can do this in just a few minutes!
The Ceramic Seal from The Paddock is an excellent choice to protect your car for a long time. Our Ceramic Seal provides a durable, water-repellent layer that repels dirt and UV radiation.
Follow the steps below for the best result:
- Bring the Ceramic Seal to: spray the seal on a panel of your car;
- Clean the Ceramic Seal in with the Microvezel Poetsdoek;
- Let it sit for a few minutes and adhere to the paint;
- Clean the Ceramic Seal fully out until no residues are visible and the shine of the paint fully emerges;
- Your car is fully protected within a few minutes for 6 months!
